 The Great Allardt Pumpkin Festival

September 3 thru 5 2010
Pumpkin
The Pumpkin Festival is one of Fall's fun weekends. In the small town of Allardt south east of Jamestown, crowds come from miles around to enjoy the crazy atmosphere of this traditional celebration.

Growers of pumpkins, squash and watermelons compete to see who's got the biggest – and they say size doesn't matter... Records are broken.

Enjoy the veteran car parade, antique tractor show and the Pumpkin Festival parade.  Watch the  various beauty pageants with the election of the Pumpkin King and Queen.

There are loads of booths selling all sorts of crafts and of course, food.

Music is provided by local pickers and singers.

All the town participates decorating their homes and gardens – a sight to see.

This is good old fashioned fun.

Wildwood Lodge

Lodging is in short supply in Allardt itself, so come stay with us at Wildwood Lodge – we're about 20 minutes from Allardt, right next to Big South Fork National Park and 2 miles from Pickett State Park. So once you've had enough of the noise and crowds at the Festival, you can relax in comfortable, clean lodging in the middle of nature. You may even have enough energy to fit in a hike. And if you haven't gorged yourself to death at the Festival, we are lucky to have the best restaurant in three counties right next door.
